From an idea the client couldn’t find on the market to a wooden prototype and an externally sourced metal fixture.
The brief
A Fixture Designed Around the Client’s Needs
A client approached Ascend Visuals after struggling to find the light fixture they wanted on the market. Rather than settling for something that wasn’t quite right, they wanted a bespoke design created for them.
We developed the design through our CAD services, produced the technical drawing and made a working prototype from wood. We then sourced a metal version externally, supporting the project from the initial idea through to a metal fixture.

From Design to Metal Fixture
01 · Developing the design
We designed a square fixture with three openings and a central mounting area. The project visuals show the component on its own and its relationship to a three-pendant lighting arrangement.
02 · Documenting the details
We produced a dimensioned technical drawing with front and side views. It records the overall profile, hole positions and mounting details, giving the design a clear technical reference.
03 · Making a wooden prototype
We made a working prototype from wood, turning the design into a physical object. This provided a tangible version of the bespoke fixture before progressing to metal. Explore our prototyping services.
04 · Sourcing the metal version
Following the wooden prototype, we sourced a metal version from an external supplier. Our involvement brought together the design, technical documentation, prototyping and external sourcing.
The outcome

The client’s search for a fixture that wasn’t available in the form they wanted became a bespoke project: a design, a dimensioned drawing, a working wooden prototype and an externally sourced metal version.
